How to Link a Server to PurpleSurge

We are always looking for stable, developed servers to join our network. If you are interested in linking your server to Purplesurge, please review the linking conditions below. If you agree to the procedures, please PM or email Legend. Our linking guidelines are as follows:

(1.) We do not link to other networks.

(2.) A new server admin selects a name for his/her server in the server.purplesurge.com format.

(3.) As part of the PS network, all servers use PS services databases.

(4.) 50 users minimum before a link is considered.

(5.) One server admin allowed per server, with a reasonable number of corresponding IRCops.

(6.) Dedicated servers will be considered, and handled on a case-by-case basis. Criteria for acceptance will be based on the server provider, server stability, server location, and DDOS mitigation policies. A dedicated link will run ONLY one IRCd process. Any other processes such as FTP, DNS, and POP3 are not allowed. Minimum port speed allowed is 100mbit.

(7.) Shell accounts will be considered, and handled on a case-by-case basis. Criteria for acceptance will be based on the shell provider, server stability, server location, and DDOS mitigation policies.

(8.) No linking will be considered for a server running an IRCd on a Cable or DSL connection, regardless of how efficient the machine may be on that connection.

(9.) The server admin of the potential link must have background or familiarity with the OS their IRCd is running on, and also be familiar with the configuration and maintenance of their own IRCd process.

(10.) A 30-day test link period will be applied to any accepted link. Server owners will discuss the potential link after 30 days, and network admin will approve final decision.

(11.) If a test link is granted, PurpleSurge will redirect as much user load to the potential server as possible. This load handling test will occur the last 15 days of the test link.
